Ingredients
1 pound sweet italian sausage, broken in pieces
1 pound lean ground beef ( or ground chuck)
1 medium onion, minced
8 cloves garlic, minced
1 (29 ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (29 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 tbsp white sugar
1 1/2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp fennel seed
1 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
2 bay leaves
2 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese
Directions
- In a large pot over medium heat, cook the saisage, beef, onion and garlic until browned: drain fat.
- Stir diced tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato sauce.
- Mix in sugar and season with basil, oregano, fennel seed, italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
- Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring every half hour.
- Add the grated parmesan cheese in the last 30 mins.
- Serve over pasta with galic bread.
